Crosscheck's extension settings provide comprehensive control over how the extension operates, ensuring you can tailor your experience to your workflow.
This guide covers all available settings, their purposes, and how to configure them for optimal performance.


Accessing Extension Settings

How to Open Settings

  1. Click the Extension Icon

    • Locate the Crosscheck extension in your browser toolbar
    • Click the icon to open the popup
  2. Access Settings Menu

    • Look for the gear icon (⚙️) in the popup
    • Click it to open the settings panel
  3. Navigate Settings

    • Browse through categories
    • Changes are saved automatically

  • What It Does: Anyone with the link can access
  • Configuration: Select Public in Link Creation
  • Use Cases: Stakeholder sharing, client demos, public docs
  • Benefits: Easy sharing, broad access, quick distribution
  • What It Does: Only explicitly authorized users can access
  • Configuration: Select Private in Link Creation
  • Use Cases: Internal bug reports, confidential docs, sensitive projects
  • Benefits: Enhanced security, privacy protection, compliance

Recording Preferences

Open Checks in New Tab

  • Enable: Opens checks in a new tab (workflow continuity, side-by-side comparison)
  • Disable: Shows a banner in the current page with link copied to clipboard (simplified navigation, less tab clutter)

DevTools Recording

  • Enable: Captures console logs, network requests, metadata, device info
  • Disable: Visual-only capture, faster processing, more privacy

Show Recording Toolbar

  • Enable: Floating toolbar with start/stop, pause, timer, quick actions
  • Disable: Clean, UI-free recordings, controlled only via extension popup

Instant Replay Settings

Enable/Disable Instant Replay

  • Enable: Background rolling buffer, captures last minutes of activity
  • Disable: Stops background recording, saves resources, increases privacy

Instant Replay Duration

  • Options: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 minutes
  • Recommendations:
    • Simple issues → 1–2 minutes
    • Standard bugs → 2–3 minutes
    • Complex workflows → 3–4 minutes
    • Comprehensive analysis → 4–5 minutes

Privacy Controls (Site-Specific Recording)

  • Add Sites: Enter URL → Enable
  • Remove Sites: Click ❌ next to URL
  • Quick Enablement: From current site via extension popup
